Yes, we had so much fun at Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, Texas, that we went back this weekend. Of course, the fact we had two more free tickets didn’t hurt! This time, we attended the other half of the water park. No Master Blaster but we still had a blast.
The first ride we went on was Der Bahn Speed Slide, and boy, was it fast! And fun! We followed this up with the Double Body Loop. I didn’t like this ride as much, though. There were too many spots where you get bounced around, like a marble in a pinball machine.
For a relaxing interlude to all the red diamond thrill rides, try a dip in any one of Schlitterbahn’s heated pools. After that, a trip down the Soda Straws was in order. These slides come out of the top of a giant Coca-Cola glass. Like Der Bahn, they’re super-fast!
One of the rides that I was really looking forward to was the Bahnzai Pipeline. And it didn’t disappoint. The weird thing is that the ride, despite its red diamond rating, was totally relaxing. It was kinda like sliding down a really long, really fast birth canal… on an inner tube. Weird, huh?! But I would definitely ride it again. It is my favourite ride at the park.
We also watched my sister, niece, and their friends slide headfirst down the Downhill Racers. All of them got air on the triple bumps.
Our final ride of the day was the Cliffhanger Tube Chute. This ride was really disappointing. I kept getting stuck in the eddies before you go over the drops. The end featured a giant “waterfall.” Again, disappointing. My butt scraped the bottom all the way down.
Luckily, the great rides way outshone the two disappointing ones. The husband and I had a fantastic time, and wore ourselves out riding all the great rides at the World’s Best Water Park! Oh, and I didn’t really get any photos this time. We were just having too much fun!
This season’s over but you should definitely visit Schlitterbahn next summer.
Sunblock is very important. I never go without sunblock when I’m outside or at, say, Schlitterbahn. However, not all sunblocks are alike. My husband and I found this out the hard way on our first trip to Schlitterbahn about five weeks ago. We bought the spray form of sunblock, thinking, mistakenly, that it would be easier to apply. You still have to rub it in. Apply it twice as frequently. And it didn’t protect near as well at the lotion. My husband and I, despite using a whole bottle of the spray, still got burned. I peeled for three and a half weeks after last time.
So, for our next trip to Schlitterbahn, we bought SPF 50 sunblock lotion. Hopefully, we will not get burned this time!
#48 Go to Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels
It was an awesome experience! And another item is checked off the list. When they say Schlitterbahn is the best water park in the U.S, they mean it. Not only did I have a blast mastering the Master Blaster but my husband had a great day also. Speaking of the Master Blaster, it’s best to ride it first. Everything after that is all downhill. Literally.
After the thrill of the uphill water coaster, we went on the Wolf Pack. Another great ride! One on which my husband made sure that I was going down the ride backwards the entire time. Oh, and don’t worry about the long lines. All of the rides are totally worth the wait!
Next, we rode the Torrent River several times, and The Falls. Both were way more intense then I was expecting. The Torrent River has huge swells that lift you up and throw you forward, while The Falls force you through fast-moving rapids. With my 8-year-old niece in tow, we also rode some of the smaller slides. Although, she rode the Master Blaster and the Wolf Pack.
They also have the Boogie Bahn, where you hold on for dear life to a boogie board and hope your swim trunks do the same. It’s a quick ride but worth doing at least once.
One thing I wish I had done differently is to have bought sunblock in lotion form and not spray-on sunblock. Despite using an entire can of the stuff, the husband and I still got burned
Of course, this whole experience was available to us because of our friend, Jessica’s giveaway on her blog. thereinventionofjessica.blogspot.com
So, if you all have the chance, definitely spend the day at Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels!
A swing ride I will never go on! (But it was fun watching random strangers swinging over your head.)

We got tickets to Schlitterbahn, so I’ll be able to cross #48 off of my travel to-do list later this summer! So excited!! It’s been WAY too long since I’ve been to a water park.
