Tickets are purchased so I can mark #38 off my list after next week. Yay! The husband and I will be attending a Rangers ball game!
Seriously, who wouldn’t want to stay in an English castle? Well, I’ve found one where I would love to stay! It’s name is Bovey Castle, and it’s located Devon, nestled between Plymouth and Bristol. The Detmar Blow-designed neo-Jacobean style manor house was built for the Viscount Hambleden in 1907. The house became a golfing hotel in 1930 after being sold to the Great Western Railway.
The hotel’s resort desk can hook you up with a vast number of activities, running the gamut from the classic:archery, falconry, and horseriding to the modern: crolf (croquet meets golf,) hot air ballooning, and rock climbing. And of course, there is also an 18-hole golf course.
As for the rooms, well, there’s 64 of them. If that’s not enough privacy for you, or you have up to eight people in your party, then you can book one of the fourteen country lodges scattered throughout the property.
I could definitely see the hubbie and I spending a romantic vacation here. In the meanwhile, if any of you visit Bovey Castle, please let me know what you think. Have a great day!
When Rennies all over North Texas travel back in time to the year 1533. Yes, I’m talking about Scarborough Renaissance Festival, the place where my husband and I tied the knot (literally) nearly five years ago. Today was opening day for the 33rd season. I will be there tomorrow, and I am definitely looking forward to eating at the bakery, the Palace of Pasta, and an end-of-the-day pretzel. My Gypsy costume is ready, and so is my pass. My Medieval moccasins are ready to be laced up. The weather should be gorgeous so come out and join us!
